Minnetonka, Minn. – Jim Schultz, President of the Minnesota Private Business Council, today issued the following statement on Senator Erin Murphy’s election as Senate Majority Leader:

“Senator Erin Murphy’s election as Senate Majority Leader is disturbing to anyone troubled by the hard-left policies coming from Minnesota government. As we all know, Senator Murphy is a liberal’s liberal, representing the far-left of the most liberal Senate caucus in Minnesota history. Just last session Minnesotans saw extreme one-party control deliver a 38% increase in spending, $10 billion in tax hikes, a devil’s brew of anti-jobs policies, and more of the soft-on-crime craziness that has dramatically increased crime in the state. With Murphy’s election, one can expect even worse from this coming session. Minnesotans deserve better.”

Jim Schultz is the president and executive director of the Minnesota Private Business Council and was the Republican nominee for Minnesota attorney general in 2022. He can be reached at jim@growthmn.com.
